Give

South-West Evangelical Church is self-funded, meaning we rely on the generosity of our church partners and regular attendees to provides for our own needs and the needs of others. Thank you to the generosity of those people holding nothing back in living and giving! You know that Jesus is worth it!

The best way to understand giving is to look at the Bible. The Bible says everything in the world belongs to God (Psalm 24:1) and that God is a generous giver. He gives us the ability to produce wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). Ultimately God gave us Jesus and gives us all things through Jesus (Romans 8:32). Our generosity in giving is a demonstration of God’s character and a response to what He has done for us. After all, Jesus Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). Consider this about Jesus:

Knowing then that already rich in what Jesus has given us we no longer need to trust in money and can instead trust in Jesus. Money now becomes a God-given means to help those in need both inside and outside of the church.

Money that is spent by our churches is spent in the interests of God’s mission — whether it is paying staff, maintaining property, paying bills or supporting external missions and organisations. Giving to South-West Evangelical Church is an investment in the Kingdom of God. If you are a regular at our church, please pray and consider a regular amount of money that you can give to this good work.

Some biblical principles for giving are as follows:

• Give quietly, not drawing attention to how much you’re giving, because God already knows (Matthew 6:3)
• Give regularly and consistently by putting money aside every week for collection (1 Corinthians 16:2)
• Give according to your means (even beyond your means) from what you have — not what you don’t have (Mark 12:41–44; 2 Corinthians 8:1–8; 2 Corinthians 8:11–12)
• Give generously and not grudgingly (2 Corinthians 9:5)
• Give from your heart, cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7)
• Give freely above your regular giving to God as needs arise (Deuteronomy 16:10).

None of this is to make you feel guilty but to help you make wise decisions with the money that God has given you.

Cash

We do not collect a regular giving contribution during our meeting times. However, if you would still like to make a cash contribution, you may do so via the black box marked as such found near the entrance doors of the church.

Direct Deposit

Direct deposit/electronic bank transfer is our preferred giving option. If you would like to give your freewill giving electronically, go to your bank and login to your account from the web. Then set up a regular transfer to the correct SWEC account (below).

Estate Planning

Leaving a bequest to South-West Evangelical Church is a great way to impact the spread of the gospel. When making a gift in your will it is important to use the correct legal terminology and therefore you should consult a solicitor to draft your will which will ensure all your wishes are taken into account.

There are a number of ways that you can make provisions in your will:

• The whole of your estate
• The residue of your estate
• A percentage of your estate
• A specific amount of money

Please discuss this with your solicitor and whatever option you choose, you should add words such as: “I give to South-West Evangelical Church Incorporated, Kingsgrove (ABN 18 751 838 876) for its general purpose, free of all duties, the sum of $X for which a receipt of the Treasurer, for the time being of the church, will be a sufficient discharge for my executor or trustee.”
