What To Expect
Make the most of your time with us.
South-West Evangelical Church is full of people who are new to Australia, new to Sydney, new to church, and new to Christianity. Our church welcomes all people from all backgrounds, recognising that none of us are perfect and all of us need to know the love and forgiveness of Jesus. We desire to make coming to church an easy, comfortable, and stress-free experience. Put simply, we:
- Gather together
- Are family friendly
- Have live music
- Pray for others
- Read the Bible
- Listen to a Bible talk

When You Enter
When you enter our someone will greet you and write you a name tag. If you’re new or visiting at 10am English (Kingsgrove) you’re welcome to receive a free coffee from our friendly volunteers at the coffee machine. You may enter the main church building whenever you like or choose to stay in the courtyard until the service begins.
During the Service
When you enter the main church building you may sit wherever you like. There are no reserved seats.
Our formal time together lasts about 90 minutes and you’re welcome to participate as little or as much as you like.
It starts with songs played by our musicians (usually 2-3) followed by a quiet time to think to ourselves about how our week has been. This is then followed by another song.
A short time of announcements and/or interviews follows after that where you’ll hear about everything that’s going on in the life of our church.
The kids will then be invited to come and sit up the front to hear a talk (usually a video, but sometimes delivered in person). If you are new or visiting with children, there is no obligation for you to come and sit up the front with your children. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. All of our leaders are “safe ministry” trained and checked.
You’ll then have a brief opportunity to meet those sitting around you.
A time of prayer comes after this where a member of our church will pray on behalf of everyone for our world and our local community.
We then read a book of the Bible followed by a 25-30 minute talk about what that particular part of the Bible is saying to us.
We finish with one final song and are sent into the world with an encouraging message from the Bible.
After the Service
After our formal time together you are free to leave but we certainly encourage you to stay and meet people and learn more about our community.
During the Week
We have a number of events running throughout the week for kids, teens, adults, families, and the young at heart.
